Name: Abbot Seridan Halewind
Race: Half-Elf
Age: 72

Seridan Halewind is the current Abbot of the Monastery of Nine, the spiritual and philosophical guide of the monks who live among the high ridges of Dragonlore. Born to a traveling herbalist mother and an elven cartographer father, Seridan spent much of his early life moving between small settlements scattered across Llithe. This wandering childhood exposed him to many interpretations of the Faith of Nine long before he understood its deeper doctrine. In farming villages he watched people honor the High Matron through harvest rituals, while sailors along the coast prayed to Otares before dangerous voyages. These early experiences gave Seridan a quiet realization that faith was not something confined to temples or sermons. It lived in the actions of ordinary people. When a group of monks from the Monastery of Nine passed through his town during his adolescence, their discipline and serenity struck him deeply. He chose to follow them into the mountains, believing the monastery might help him understand the harmony he had glimpsed throughout the world.

Within the monastery Seridan became known for an unusual trait among initiates. While most monks felt a clear calling toward a single Primordial path early in their training, Seridan struggled to choose. Instead he studied each path carefully, learning the physical and philosophical disciplines that defined them. He trained with the Path of Justice to understand responsibility, practiced the patience of the Path of Harvest in tending the monastery gardens, and studied the fluid combat philosophy of the Path of Water. Eventually his mentors recognized that Seridan’s true strength was not mastery of one path but comprehension of the balance between them. He ultimately devoted himself to the Path of Wisdom, believing its purpose was not simply knowledge but the understanding of how all paths must coexist to maintain harmony.

When the previous Abbot passed into the care of Moro, the elder monks gathered to determine who would guide the monastery forward. Though not the oldest master among them, Seridan Halewind was chosen because of his rare ability to see the paths as parts of a single living system. As Abbot he now oversees the training of initiates, ensuring every monk begins with the foundational teachings of the Faith of Nine before walking their chosen path. Seridan believes the monastery must remain isolated enough to preserve its discipline, yet connected enough to understand the changing world beyond its mountains. Under his guidance monks occasionally travel across Llithe as envoys, healers, mediators, and guardians when balance is threatened. Calm, thoughtful, and patient, Abbot Seridan Halewind embodies the principle that the purpose of the monastery is not to escape the world, but to understand it well enough to protect its harmony.
