Biography

One of the first human vampires to reject their humanity, the Vampire Lord who controlled the now-lost marsh city of Derglin had many names- The Red Devil, Deargbhal, and Dearg-Diabhal. His original name was simply 'Sen'.

A brutal tyrant, he brought darkness to his city unseen by the land. Derglin was situated within the marshland between the grassland and the Everswamp, and the swamp pools ran red with blood under his rule. Jakunists were purged, and undeath reigned.

The city thrived in the chaos of the second era, with no major kingdoms to enforce justice upon Sen's city, and his castle corrupted the land for miles. Clerics, adventurers, blackreynes, many heroic people tried to end his reign of terror to no avail.

The city of Derglin became a black-spot, scrubbed away from all maps so no one would find it- Hidden away and forgotten. Diargbhal commanded a legion of feylike undead, having built a portal to the Shadowfell within his castle.

Silas was born in 2E600 to one of the numerous human women kept inside Sen's blood-pens to serve as both entertainment and food supply for his fey-vampire spawn. Silas, a dhampir, was directly Sen's child. He grew up in Deargbhal's service not unlike most vampire spawn. Sen showcased little fatherly love, but he did showcase a false affection to Silas when necessary to get him to do his bidding while pretending to be proud of him.

Everything came crashing down in 3E038. The Crimson Empire had formed and claimed the land that contained the city of Derglin. Faithkeepers led by Sombra himself would soon plan a siege of the city to finally bring down the Vampire Lord. Sen commanded a great defense, but he realized that the city would fall. So, he planned to plane-shift Sen's Castle to the Shadowfell to escape Sombra. Silas, having grown up to detest his father, finally stood his ground and fought him. He didn't stand a chance against the Vampire Lord, but managed to destroy the shadow-portal as the castle plane-shifted, essentially locking Sen and his Castle in the Shadowfell with no way back to Abmarah. Silas made it to the marshland where he rested in his coffin for a century.

Silas' coffin was randomly dug back up by animals. Silas awoke to the overgrown ruins of Derglin, and Sen's Castle still gone. His powers still worked, proving that Deargbhal was alive and well within the Shadowfell even now, surely plotting to return sooner or later. Making his way to civilization, Silas soon ended up heading to the nearby city of Dawress where he met some other adventurers. There, they were hired by King Vaulik to hunt down a werewolf. However, upon learning that the werewolf was simply innocent, Silas and the others managed to depose and kill King Vaulik instead, putting the city towards a path of democracy. He later bought a Ring of Mind-Shielding to stop his father's voice from reaching him.

Brighthunt (The White Ravens)

Check the main one-shot page for the detailed plot summary.

Silas spent the next 86 years on the run from the Blackreyne Brotherhood as they tried to kill him for being a Vampire Spawn. While he never killed any Blackreyne hunter sent after him, he certainly injured quite a few. This lasted until Archhunter Daerron Blackreyne himself found him, and ended up recruiting him in the middle of the The Great Aurian War. At Night's End, after a week of catching glares, he was brought into a secret meeting with a few others where Daerron revealed that Silas was to become a founding member of the Brighthunt, a sect that would do unofficial and unseemly missions that the greater organisation cannot be seen doing. Silas would become a monster who hunted monsters.

They were sent to retrieve a light artifact from ruins under Ruskerton for Saint Kol-Han. On the way, his party ended up going through the ruins of Derglin again, more overgrown than the last time Silas had seen it. One of his teammates, Sirakos, ended up accidentally activating one of the obelisks used to transport the castle to the Shadowfell, temporarily sending the party halfway into the Shadowfell. In this in-between demiplane, his ring faltered and he started to hear his father's voice and see his apparition. Breaking through his phantasm, he broke the obelisk and brought them back to Abmarah. Later in the ruins under Ruskerton, they met androsphinx Zondras who asked Silas what he'd do when Sen eventually does return. Silas simply replied to him that he'd be ready when that day comes. The party recovered Ballista Aries and helped Daerron reawaken her, hoping that this would end the war sooner. Silas and Viktor said that they are ready to see the consequences of their actions over the long-term.

The Age of Steam

Silas remained a Blackreyne and Brighthunt member for the centuries to come, becoming more and more influential within the organization as time went on. In 3E470, one of Archhuntress Viera Blackreyne's first actions as Archhuntress was to call a senior vote in which she proposed to end the Brighthunt for good. The de-facto leader of the Brighthunt, Viktor, objected to the dissolution, but was outvoted 7-6 in the vote. Silas ended up voting to disband the Brighthunt after all these years alongside Aleksandr, recognising that the Brighthunt was no longer what Daerron wanted it to be all those years ago.

In 3E498, during The Light of Lunaria, he helped Mash and the Darklight Crusaders fight against Viktor's loyalists in Night's End when Viera went missing. He ended up fighting against Voriak, werewolf versus vampire.
