“The value of one's life is determined by their usefulness to me."
—D'vorah

D'vorah was a part of the Phoenix Nebula party. A Vedavin necromancer from Vanadweep, he traveled the world before ending up in the Blood Sea. He later started to worship the god Omegus.

He had 3 skeleton wolves named Maverick, Johnny, and Johnny- as well as a zombie wolf named Vega- believing them to be the same souls as his original four dogs. He also had an owl familiar named Mavros.

He served as Devaanshu's second character in Curse of the Blood Sea after he retired Nyx's character.

Biography

Early Life

D'vorah grew up on Vanadweep within the Swarna Authority, in a small village distanced from everything else in the world. He only has vague memories of his mother, because one day a plague swept through his town (possibly caused by someone within it) and killed nearly everyone.

He later found himself in the necromancy colleges of Alphanim, and spent his years there. He had a elven bully at the college, who killed his pet dogs that he then revived via necromancy. D'vorah one day killed him, transforming him into his lantern that he uses as his spellcasting focus. The lantern when created was more primal and out of control, more powerful with a unholy blood red glow to it. After using incantations D'vorah was able to stabilize it to a more usable toned down state, being the yellow version he later uses.

Later in the Lunar Collective mainland, he traveled with a halfling friend of his named Osmund and a few other people he made friends with. Osmund was charismatic and usually was the one who got customers since he was good at talking. Eventually Osmund started getting cocky because of his effectiveness and realized that he had control. Travelling through some Lunar territory he being his cocky self thought he could join up with the collective and out D'vorah. A random night five lunar soldiers showed up, but thankfully Mavros alerted D'vorah and he was able to get away- the others werent all that lucky. The Lunars made Osmund one of their informants and rewarded him, something D'vorah saw happen through the eyes of Mavros who was by a window in the Lunar complex. The betrayal wasnt to kind on his mental health and he became even more paranoid.

Curse of the Blood Sea

Check the main campaign page for the detailed plot summary.

Many years later, after the Tidemeet in Shipwreck City, D'vorah learned that the crew of the Phoenix Nebula were trying to close the Abyssgate and were inside Xiphalia's prison. He hired some goons to ambush them as they escaped the prison, and then made a show of 'saving them', falsely earning their trust and joining the party. While escaping Xiphalia's fleet, they summoned the water genie Shah Heswaa el-Majraa from her iron flash prison. She sent them into the Plane of Water, where the crew was imprisoned in Castle Almarjanu by Sultan Mukaz al-Azad. D'vorah then officially joined the party after growing closer to them, especially Elise. The party made a deal with Heswaa and escaped the water plane after defeating an Aboleth.

The Nebula then ended up near Saturnia (Now Sergorod) and met up with one of Laoch's old spy contacts, Senator Chupov. The crew used his introduction to get into a high-class wedding and meet with lunar officials including Bolt Karboniv. The crew cleared out Pirate Lord Shri Kunala Qrozk's slave operation nearby in the Cove of Cries, and then aimed to get back to Cinoh as they heard about the political upheaval there from Isabeau. On the way, they stopped at Canau and met with Pirate Lord Fenya Cetrovna. While doing a job for her, the party helped the residents of Firewatch Monastery from a zombie invasion caused by a minor abyssgate nearby. D'vorah helped organise the defense with an army of zombies raised by himself. While visiting Île de Cratère, the party ran into the crew of the The Icicle Reaver, including Cydney. Laoch recognised Cydney as Niklaus, her long-lost brother who was presumed dead. He seemed to now be a bladesinger wizard, and had amnesia. The crew convinced him to join the Nebula, but Laoch was unable to get closer to him. D'vorah however developed a friendship with the fellow wizard. D'vorah then started to see visions of the world freezing, the sky turning green, the ocean turning blood-red, and Varkanus visiting and whispering in his head. The god promised him immortality, and D'vorah suspected Anlee of knowing about these visions.

In Cinoh, the crew ended up getting involved in the political machinations of Shogun Aite and Damien Daimao. After Elise and Sif were imprisoned within the Akumakai compound, D'vorah organised another zombie horde to break the doors in and rescue them. Everything eventually culminated in a battle within the Cinohan throne room, where D'vorah killed Damien, which was especially controversial even for his friends. After Damien's death, Cinoh was transformed into a constitutional monarchy. D'vorah started to worship the god Omegus more intently after all this.

The crew then traveled to the Anchorage of Whispers again to meet with Xaniv, where he finally revealed his truth to the party. Realizing that he is the ultimate villain in all this, the party especially D'vorah vowed to kill him. Xaniv then sent hunting horrors after the party that ended up killing Anlee, something that D'vorah then blamed himself for. They made a trip back to the Rummery and learned more details about the imminent siege of Tikius where they also recruited Fek, who D'vorah immediately took a liking to. The party slapped some sense into Belanar and put up a successful defense of Tikius against Volnaxokaaz and Grand Admiral Isabeau. After the battle, Belanar entrusted Sif with the Piece of Greed, naming her the new Pirate Lord of Greed. She was blindsided by this sudden promotion and responsibility, but enjoyed using the piece of greed's power to create gold, something D'vorah helped her take full advantage of.

Cydney then asked Laoch and D'vorah to help him with destroying the memory-experiments at the Blackwood Institute, where they also ended up rescuing Vass, a 'good' mind flayer. Vass returned the favor by bringing the The Phoenix Nebula itself to life, and giving the now-purple ship the ability to teleport anywhere in the oceans of Abmarah. The Nebula then traveled to Sombus, where they met with Emperor Sombra himself. He pardoned them of their crimes, while asking for their help in return for his help in closing the Abyssgate. D'vorah received strong spells from the stronger wziard. The party was to travel to the Lightless Ruins and bring back the artifact Lightclaw. After rescuing Markal Zuriel from the ruins, the party was ambushed by Ballista Aries, who they defeated. Back in Sombus, D'vorah finally took Fek on a date.

When the party decided to reconvene the The Pirate Court at Shipwreck City, they traveled across the Blood Sea and beyond to gather all the pirate lords again as well as locate Xaniv's phylactery. D'vorah did not go with them, instead spending his days researching the Abyssgate, Xaniv, and Lichdom within the Carminus Universum in Sombus. He later met back up with them once they were done with the Pirate Lords. The crew then broke into a Crimson antimagic prison, rescued Laoch's parents Alastorm and Phaona, and escaped into the Plane of Fire temporarily. D'vorah also ended up rescuing his old teammate Osmund from the prison, and upon returning to the material plane, he killed him.

D'vorah cast Legend Lore to gain a lot of information about Xaniv's origins. Later, the party visited Varkunast where the temple of Varkanus was being invaded by a champion of Omegus, Daskl. The party ended up beating him, but this earned D'vorah no favors with Omegus. He spoke rudely and arrogantly to Varkanus to appeared to thank them, leading to the god killing D'vorah. Elise then revived him. D'vorah seemed to give up on chasing immortality, and helped locate Xaniv's phylactery within the Astral Sea.

D'vorah and the rest of the Nebula then finally sailed into the Abyssgate, defeating the Demon Prince Demogorgon with their combined powers. Xaniv the Whisperer then tried to drain Varkanus' divinity, and the final battle ensued. After the curse was lifted, the crew celebrated within D'vorah's magic mansion and then went their separate ways. D'vorah settled down with Fek, and became a faculty member at the Carminus Universum.

After the Abyssgate

After the campaign, D'vorah settled down with Fek in Tikius, and became a visiting professor at the Carminus Universum in Sombus.
