In the second era under the Empire of Cinoh, the first Aomoya emperor had four legendary royal guards, who each wielded a unique elemental weapon. Kurokasai is a part of this set of the Aomoya Elemental Guardians.

Kurokasai was forged by an oniling named Kagegojuu Kishi. After him, it passed through countless generations of the Kagegojuu family. When the family took over the country and formed the Kagegojuu Shogunate, the katana became a symbol of the Shōgun's family and was passed down from Shōgun to Shōgun.

The Black-Fire Katana belongs to Kagegojuu Aite in the modern day. In 3E466, she lended it for display to the Art Museum in Ammba for a few years.
