The Battle of Scissor Forest was the second great triumph of King Norionor Whiteshield’s unstoppable March of the Lion.

Deep within the tangled heart of Scissor Forest, Norionor faced the dreaded Scorpion Army of the Freelanders—a wild host of free warriors and chained slaves mounted atop towering giant scorpions. Their venomous riders thrived in the dense woodland, striking from shadow and striking hard. To most commanders, the forest would have been a death trap.

Norionor turned it into a graveyard for his enemies.

With characteristic cunning, the king ordered his legions to vanish into the undergrowth days before the battle. Hidden pits, trip-lines, and deadfalls were laid across every game trail and clearing. When the Scorpion Army charged, expecting to run down disorganized invaders, they instead plunged into chaos—scorpions thrashing in concealed pits, riders crushed beneath their own mounts, formations shattered by sudden ambushes.

What followed was a slaughter among the trees. Steel rang against chitin, fire arrows hissed into the canopy, and the screams of the dying echoed beneath the leaves. Yet no matter how fiercely the Freelanders fought, Norionor’s trap had already decided the day.

By nightfall the Scorpion Army lay broken. Its survivors—free and slave alike—knelt and swore allegiance to Lothen. Their surviving giant scorpions and warriors were absorbed into Norionor’s growing host.

The victory at Scissor Forest cemented Norionor’s reputation as a master of both battlefield and stratagem, and sent a clear message to the rest of Vitallia: the Lion of Lothen could conquer any terrain, any foe.
