3E442/06/14 - Day 3 of the Seven's Carnival in Cinoh! As some travelers visit the carnival, they are called by a mime towards a tent where some of them play Almiraj Ring Toss, winning drow and thri-kreen plushies. There is suddenly screaming and ruckus from Kyora, the singer's tent. As they rush there, they see the visitors fleeing as there are two dead samurai, one of them skeletonized by swarms of scarabs. After dealing with the scarabs, Kyora complains about her big concert being delayed, and Marax discovers that one of the dead samurai was stabbed by a poisoned shuriken. They learn that the princess was kidnapped, as more Samurai show up to investigate, Hoshiko hiding before they show up. The captain arrests Masala after she vaguely insults him with a spell. Esma, one of the carnival leaders, shows up and talks with the samurai, as they lead them to the Citadel Barracks. On the way, Mucha realizes that the shuriken belongs to the Akumakai yakuza clan. At the barracks, they meet with the Shogun himself, who has Masala released as well as Hoshiko discovered. After talking with them and thanking them, he hires them to go rescue his daughter. They spend the night at the Hoshiaki Onsen, chilling in the hot spring with a Koibra (Masala even shrinking down to ride it), eating sushi and ikayaki, and playing mahjong.
3E442/06/15 - The next morning, after receiving some rations and supplies from the samurai, the group sets out north in a cold morning, through rice farms and fields.
3E442/06/16 - At night, they camp out by the seaside, but with Shimizu and Masala on watch, they manage to avoid being completely ambushed by a group of shinobi who were sent to kill them. They manage to deal with the shinobi fairly easily however, but don't have a good night's sleep due to the incident. Shen leaves to go back to Port Cinoh to warn them of the information leak. In the morning, three of them sneak into the compound over the temple wall but Masala and Shimizu try to distract the guards at the front gate, via dances/negotiation/asking for water and so on, but eventually Masala just throws in a fireball in the front gate and controls a guard into carrying her inside. Shimizu gets arrested and led inside as well, as everyone converges on the second floor. Masala and Hoshiko are caught in between the samurai and the boss in the library, so Hoshiko hides on top of a bookshelf as Masala turns into a chair, but her wild magic causes ominous music to start playing as Niseki Daimao walks in. As Mucha and Shimizu try to argue their way out of this, Shimizu crying, Marax sneaks up and silently kills a shinobi taking advantage of the music. He discovers the princess in the meeting room. Hoshiko is spotted sneaking away, as Niseki heads to the meeting room, initiating a fight with him and the remaining two samurai, during which he hulks out into a proper oni form. During the fight, Masala and her mirror images take the princess by the hand and run down. Niseki almost freezes a bunch of people, and the fight seems difficult until Masala throws a fireball into the floor under the fight, bringing mostly everyone down into the first floor and knocking out Marax in the process. After a bit, Niseki stands down, letting them go with the princess. The princess later at a campfire reveals that Masala was the one who threw that fireball that destroyed the compound, and that she learned that the singer Kyora was the yakuza contact in the carnival who helped organize this.
3E442/06/17 - They make it to Port Cinoh, where they reunite the princess with the shogun. He pays them a handsome sum, and thanks them for their service. Masala gives one of her bonking pins to the princess, and takes 3 gold as her reward. The shogun gets Kyora arrested, and admits to the corruption within the samurai and the government, but that there is little they can do about it as a whole for now. They get to rest in the inn with the koibra again as part of their reward. Marax plans to open a private detective agency for investigating both normal crimes as well as the eldritch incidents going on.
