This one-shot was played in April 2024. It was an Abmari adaptation of the one-shot of the same name from Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel. It focused on a group of characters trying to find potions of longevity for the Emperor of Xijing, but uncovering a grand conspiracy instead that eventually kickstarted the Rose Jade Revolution.
The characters hired by Grand Secretary Wei Feng Ying were:
Xian En Da - M Air Genasi Rising Dragon Alt. Monk (Daibik)
Zhao Zhijun - M Tiefling Fiend Warlock (Jouweria)
Tianlong - M Bugbear Samurai Fighter (Vijay)
In addition, they also had the NPC Lu Zhong Yin with them, a spy inquisitive rogue that was pretending to be a scholar at first.
In Xijing, Xian En Da, Zhao Zhujin, and Tianlong were hired by Grand Secretary Wei Feng Ying to investigate the old castle of the White Snake Empress, the entrance to which was discovered under a storage room after an earthquake. She actually wanted them to recover any vials of the Potions of Longevity to keep the Rose Jade Emperor alive- As the emperor’s stash had run out. She sent the archeologist Lu Zhong Yin with them, who was secretly her spy. They went to the ministry of finance to get some gear, where the minister Deng Bo Huan tried to buy them out to no avail.
Entering the ruins, they fought through multiple dangers until they accidentally released Lio Gong from stasis- the favored consort of the White Snake Empress. Getting used to the new world, she helped them open the doors into the Empress’ castle. Fighting through her stone guardians, they discovered only one potion of longevity and no secret. Grand Secretary Wei betrayed them including Lu-Yin, and teleported them to her personal beholderkin who tried to eat them. They managed to escape, and ended up in the grand secretary’s secret laboratory in the tunnel system under the city. They found a chained up gold dragon named Tulao who the scientists had been trying to extract the blessing from to make more potions of longevity. They released the dragon, who blessed the party. Escaping through the tunnels, they ended up right under a theater play being attended by the emperor and the secretary. They revealed everything to the emperor, and ended up fighting Grand Secretary Wei once the emperor was on their side. After beating her, they were rewarded by the emperor. However, the potions and the blessing had truly run out, and soon all of the dynasty was going to descend into civil war. Xian En Da took the last potion of longevity with him.
Some time later in 3E382, the Rose Jade Revolution started in Xijing against the Rose Jade Emperor. The player characters ended up on opposite sides of the conflict, but eventually saw peace in the new democratic Republic of Xi-Di.
