Alaric originates from Timberheart, the forests near Howlstead. From a young age, Alaric heard the Pouchfoots whisper to the trees about a warrior named Julius, an unsung idol of the Dwarvenkin & Pouchfoots. This warrior fought for peace during the The Throne War before the birth of the Theran race, when they were still horrific monstrous animals. As many Wolffolk, Alaric joined the Voidbreakers to learn the skills in order to help the less fortunate and to maybe follow into the footsteps of this unsung hero...

While on a simple scouting mission through the Dragonsage Plains during his first months as a recruit, Alaric experienced a vision of Julius. The unsung warrior was cornered by horrific metal-armored monstrosities that resembled wolf- and deerfolk near a collection of strange pillars. The monsters were chained to the pillars by metal-like vines that rose from the ground, but those vines would not last forever. Alaric witnessed Julius carve something into the rocks before the vision ended.

Later, Alaric encountered these runes as he wandered through the place where the monsters had destroyed everything in their path. When he touched the runes, something awakened within him. Whether it was the mystical atmosphere, lack of water, signs of loneliness, or the unsung hero actually speaking to him, Alaric decided this was a sign to strive for something greater.

Alaric copied the runes and started to carve them into his weaponry and armor, causing strange effects to occur. Now serving as a Journeyman for the Voidbreakers, he was eventually transferred to Kane's Howlbreaker pack after his original pack split for unknown reasons. Alaric disliked the political games surrounding the Voidbreakers and the fact that their original mission—fighting against the Void Echoes—had become muddied with escort assignments and cheap labor work.

Since their original foes seemingly disappeared after the Siege of Spellwhisk in 214 ATC, Alaric had picked up a few worrying rumors. There was talk that the Elders might want to get rid of non-wolffolk and return the Voidbreakers to their original purpose of fighting against the Void threat.

Alaric felt conflicted. On one hand, he agreed with restoring the original purpose of the Voidbreakers, but on the other hand, he disagreed with removing the non-wolffolk. After all, fighting the Void was a goal shared by all races and beings of Ignisar. Alaric thought it wise to grow closer to Exemplar Kane in order to voice his concerns. Doing a few requests to gain standing seemed a prudent path to follow.
