Monk Watate is a bilari monk from Cinohshima. He was a supporting NPC during Curse of the Blood Sea, and served as the Master of Laws for the Cinoh Shogunate for some years.
Monk Watate grew up in Cinohshima and grew to command much respect in the land. He focused his research onto the effects strong emotions have on inanimate objects such as heirloom weapons and such. He proved his theories correct by giving his kanabō Watabō its powers.
In 3E452, after the assassination of Shōgun Iwale, he served as an advisor to Kagegojuu Aite and Kagegojuu Miyoshi. He helped the Phoenix Nebula investigate Daimaō Damien, and ended up teaching fellow open-hand monk Boz Walarson about tranquility and peace.
After Damien and Aite's betrayal was revealed, he helped take them down. He gifted Watabō to Boz and then he served as the Master of Laws for the reformed Cinoh Shogunate for some years.
