Founding.
Altoria began as a frontier camp of fortune-seekers gathered around the Endless Abyss, a dungeon older than record. A settlement formed and grew up on the wealth pulled from its depths.
The Great Unification.
Valerian Aurelius united Imperion's city-states into one republic and made Altoria its capital. The Senate was established and the Noble Houses formalized.
Growth.
Roads, aqueducts, and bridges tied the old city-states together as Altoria swelled into a true metropolis.
The Dragon's Resurgence (2,050 AC).
Ancient dragons threatened the trade routes, and expeditions set out from the city to meet them.
The Gnoll Wars (2,500–2,510 AC).
United gnoll tribes attacked Imperion; Altoria was the command center of the defense, with the decisive victory at the Battle of Valentis Fields.
The Treaty of Caerwyn (2,700 AC).
Peace with the neighboring nations was formalized, cementing Altoria's standing.
Today.
The city thrives but faces rising trouble: strange dungeons appearing without warning, tension among the noble houses, and a creeping Void corruption seeping up from below.
