Wemana the Adventurer is a mythological monkey hero from the first era. He was a tricksy Vanara who became the champion of the god of fate Dradus who blessed him with endless luck. He is considered a mortal hero or saint in other sects of Aeterism, but a true minor god in his own right within Ashtadharma. They consider him to be a god of ambition, luck, and adventure. In Ahbara traditions, Wemana is considered to be one of the avatars of the primordial Abara. They believe that his body has since died, but part of his spirit lives on amidst the heavens. The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle of these various beliefs.
Stories of his exploits are legendary, such as the time when Wemana stole a scroll of arcane power from Varkanus, and then managed to shift the blame onto Gunian. Another famous tale tells of how Wemana charted the first accurate map of the Km’mala Peaks, disobeying the Dragonborn rulers of the mountains who wanted to keep their treasures a secret from outsiders like him. Wemana fought as Dradus’ champion in the Tournament of Champions. He is known to have traveled the entire world of Abmarah, and even some realms beyond such as the Feywild. As such, many cultures across the world have their own versions of his myths, including the far east.
It is not known how Wemana actually died, some theories speculating that he died in the Omniborn Crisis, and others claiming him to have been out-tricked by Gunian and banished to the heavens.
In the modern day, his followers include vanara, adventurers, explorers, and even gamblers.
