South of the Rethi River, the Edeni Expanse (इदेनि घासभूमि) sprawls across the horizon, an expansive area of golden grasslands that stretch as far as the eye can see. This vast savannah is full of life as compared to the deserts, and many consider it to be one of the possible birthplaces for humanity. Stretching from the desert plateaus of the Vyzum Wastes in the west to the Ashfall Sea in the east, the expanse is one of the largest regions of Eqos and Abmarah as a whole. Much of the western expanse has now come under the influence of the Calamity Covenant, while the eastern half remains colonized by the Lunar Kazarin Protectorate. The Edeni is divided into these two equal halves, the Western Edeni centered on the massive city of Jamre, and the ash-covered Eastern Edeni which houses the supervolcano Kazarin Peak.
This brooding supervolcano, a titan among mountains visible even from Voidspace, exhales plumes of arcane ash imbued with latent magical energies that fall down into the soil and enrich it, fostering its own ecosystem while also making the air quality permanently dangerous. Much of this ash crosses over to the Cinder Steppe in Aurial while scattering across the Ashfall Sea. Yet, while Kazarin Peak gifts the land with fertility, the ominous rumblings beneath its surface serve as a constant reminder of the unfathomable primordial power that lies dormant within this awe-inspiring natural wonder. At 8,983 meters tall, Kazarin Peak is the second tallest mountain in the world after Mt. Crownpeak in Aurial. However, the fact that it rises from nearly flat land surrounded by no other peaks makes it seem much taller and more prominent. Its height and geography is ever changing as the shape of the volcano seems to change after every eruption. The mythical volcano has only truly erupted a few times in history, and these supereruptions shake the world for decades or even centuries. Its last truly devastating eruption was in 1E977, when the Cometfall caused many of the volcanoes around the world to erupt simultaneously. Kazarin is however in a state of constant peaceful eruption, spewing lava and endless plumes of smoke almost every day. This magical ash defines the biomes around it, with people across the Western Edeni and the Cinder Steppe needing face masks to avoid breathing it in.
In the western Edeni, rolling plains full of sun-kissed grass sway gently in the breeze like waves upon an endless sea. Towering acacia trees stand across the landscape, their canopies offering respite from the relentless sun while providing refuge for a variety of animals. Herds of majestic creatures roam these expansive plains, and hidden watering holes give the animals a source of life. The tribes that call the Edeni Expanse home are deeply intertwined with this untamed wilderness as their villages blend seamlessly into nature, built from earthy materials. These communities are steeped in traditions passed down through generations, standing proudly against colonizers from both the east and the north. The Kasaaqi Hukumat has long tried to take over the Edeni, holding vast territories in its northern half during its largest extent. However, the Hukumat has never been able to conquer the city of Jamre, and thus has never cemented its position as rulers of the Edeni. The same goes for Lunaria, who have never claimed the city of Jamre.
