Hidden away in the foothills of the Km’mala Peaks are the ruins of the ancient city of Stearra (स्तेआरा). It was once a great city of nokrborn, led by queens of the Nokhara Dynasty. The city itself was built into the side of a mountain, inside a deep cavern that descended into the Eqosi Underdark. The ceiling of this cavern was covered with star-like rocks that created the image of a false night sky. This Queendom lasted for nearly a thousand years, until Sol Sultana invaded it in 1E675 and flooded the caverns with magma destroying the city. She did so because the last princess of Stearra, Khazal Lunah III, was said to be an avatar of the primordial Lunaa prophesied to defeat Sol Sultana. Stearra used to be known as a city of great seers and astrologers despite being underground as the nokrborn and drow residents of the city were said to be followers of the goddess Noxa who used to be the goddess of stars before her death and replacement by Saedevi.
Stearra also sat at one of the sources of the Rethi River, so merchant ships used to be able to sail right up to the surface entrance of the city from the ocean. The valley Stearra resides in used to be much greener before the fires of Sol, and is believed to be sacred as it contains multiple sources of the Rethi River. The actual land itself is under the jurisdiction of the Kasaaqi Hukumat and Dibayad in the modern day, with Fort Starpath watching over the valley’s entrance. Explorers daring enough to visit the ruins of Stearra would find the charred remains of the underground city, with magma flows having solidified its residents alive in some places. It is deeply haunted, as its residents were great clerics and mages who were all violently killed in the cataclysmic event. Due to the sacred nature of the valley as well as the paranormal legends surrounding the ruins, the Raj of Dibayad has forbidden most common folk from resettling the area or exploring the ruins. Exceptions are granted only to a few explorers and scholars from time to time, but they haven’t been able to stop criminals and cultists from making their hideouts deep within the valley.
