Sigmus the Wavefather is the titan of the seas. His domain over water extends from the widest oceans to the smallest ponds, and he is considered one of the major gods of Aeterism and the patron god of Sigmism. The general seafaring populace attributed storms and every oceanic phenomenon to him, until Atrius was recently added to the pantheon and took the role of the Stormmaiden. He used to be considered a much less jovial deity in the first era, known for his stern strength. However, as time as gone on and the seas became less mysterious, the perception of Sigmus went from wholly destructive to one of a wise parental figure. Especially after the Omniborn Crisis, Sigmus himself seemed to have gone through a shift in personality and became more carefree.
No longer wanting to be a commander of armies again, Sigmus began to explore what it meant to flow as freely as water. Caring not for the bureaucracy of the gods anymore, he spends his time seeking thrill and fun.
His more warlike nature is still an aspect of him worshiped especially in Meiðrism, where "Sigmar" is thematically linked to the Gjóður, or Osprey. His symbol in the northern realms is a trident knot in the shape of an osprey, flown primarily by the raiders of the Sigmúnnlög.
He was created by his parent, Elder Mekalus, alongside his siblings Jakuna, Deltus, Serenox, Moros, as well as all Angels including Krros, Vertum, and Mutrev. Sigmus had three daughters with his sister Jakuna, the titanesses Zodaya, Giratia, and Etermu.
Once, the goddess Aethys laid with Sigmus in order to distract him and steal a small portion of his soul. This union infused this part of his soul into the waters around them, growing golden fruit that turned into the race of Tritons as well as the gods Aquesko and Aquescue.
Sailors often pray to Sigmus during their journeys, out of fear if not for devotion. He is the patron god of the sea elves, having led many elves to his domain in the primordial era. These elves, alongside many other races that live within the Kourā Expanse, call their religion Sigmism.
While most aquatic races worship Sigmus, the Tritons do not recognize him as their chief deity, mainly worshiping Aethys instead. However, they do still revere him, as its said that they were born out of a union of Aethys and Sigmus.
