First Sand, also known by its endonym Rethgarh (रेथगड) is a village southwest of Ammba in the Kav’orra Desert. It is under direct jurisdiction of House Kawar, and is called First Sand by most travelers coming into the Kav’orra from the west because it is roughly where the desert begins to turn more sandy than rocky. The village is built around a few hills that support the mines that fuel its economy. These mines host small underground springs to sustain the village in the harsh desert. The dwarves rely on underground mushroom farming more so than surface farming although that is possible during certain seasons. The village serves as a small stop for caravans in between Ajmiraad and Ammba, and has a lone caravanserai for these travelers. The tallest hill of the village has a small fortress called Rethgarh that has been left to ruin. An ancient dwarven fortress, many believe it to be haunted by the spirits of fallen soldiers.
