Nubarii (नुबारी or নুবারী) is a large town on the banks of the Rethi River on the southern edge of the Kav’orra Desert. The town is in between the cities of Dibayad and Kasaaq, and is controlled by House Mahawala. It is the largest settlement mid-river, and has a large influence on the region. Its population is growing more and more every decade due to the farmlands that the town controls in the otherwise barren desert. A fishing and trade town, it has a large minotaur population descending from its original inhabitants from the days of the Dibayadi Empire. Despite this, they’ve always been culturally influenced more so by Kasaaq than Dibayad. Its rethvi culture has changed the minotaur and panshera population who live here, to the point that most of them do not even know the dibayadi script anymore. The general peace that the residents here enjoy is problematic for the politics of Dibayad who try to pit the species against each other. Nubarii has a large port uncharacteristic of its small size, serving as a mid-point for ships that sail across the Rethi River. t has also served as a military camp over the years for the various wars that have happened between the two great cities of Kasaaq and Dibayad.
This has made the town heavily militarized, nowadays serving as pressure over the edeni settlements across the river. Nubarii also has high walls around much of the town, uncharacteristically fortified for a settlement of its size. The ancient walls of Nubarii are crumbling in the modern day, and haven’t been repaired in decades. The town is also a site of religious importance, as it has many temples that are over a thousand years old dedicated to various gods such as Murudev, Dobun Mahadev, Jakudevi, and even Noshmi. The agricultural nature of the town compared to the rest of the Kav’orra make it one of the rare places where people worship harvest gods such as Deldev and Noshmi. Nubarii is one of the few cities in the Kav’orra to actively celebrate the festival of Noshmipuja which brings a lot of visitors to the city every year. The residents make a grand spectacle of showcasing their crops as well as celebrating the Feywild and the Shadowfell alike. Another festival important to Nubarii is Rethipuja, during which most of its residents take a dip in the holy river and pray for less flooding before celebrating and partying with their loved ones.
This town is also the birthplace of Boz Walarson of the Phoenix Nebula, a minotaur who helped save the world when the Abyssgate opened in 3E452.
