Ajmiraad (अज्मिराद or ཨ་ཇུ་མི་རཱ་ད) is a small town situated in the eastern foothills of the Km’mala Peaks within the Kav’orra Desert. The arid hills fuel the economy of the town through mining, while farmers control the dust and soil just enough to grow crops that are used to the hot climate such as tomatoes. Water is a big problem within Ajmiraad, as they rely on small streams descending from the mountains that often dry up during droughts. The bulk of Ajmiraad’s money comes from merchant caravans and travelers braving the passage through the mountains towards the western eqosi nations of Vurmark or the Swarna Authority. The town supports travelers from the desert who are gearing up to ascend the mountains as well as the tired caravans from the other side who have finally made it to the desert and need supplies and a caravanserai.
It has a large population of dune-orcs, and is led by the dune-orc family of House Gshin. The town is in between the tibetan-inspired culture of the Peaks and the central-asian inspired culture of Dibayad, its closest big city. The people of Ajmiraad are used to both temperature extremes, as the cold hilly nights are sharply contrasted by the hot desert sun.
Much like other dune-orc societies, the town has a culture of riding mounts such as horses, camels, and rhinos. Criminals caught stealing supplies or money are often tied by rope to a horse and then dragged through the jagged desert. Most people have converted to Solism due to the influence of the nearby Church of the Black Sun, but there are still many ashtadharmites in the town.
