The balanced creator god, Ultros is the first Warforged and was created by the Imperium Aeternum during the The Great Aurian War with help from the goddess Eurion. He is said to be obsessed with 'Perfection'.

His creator, Pontifess Circyra II convinced Jakuna of his divinity and had Ultros officially ascended into the pantheon to replace Omegus' old role as balanced creator. He is now the patron god of many soul-constructs, with most Warforged looking up to him as validation of their existence. Ultros is said to be the first artificial soul as well as the first artificial god, and has forever changed the true meaning of what it means to be divine.

Cold and calculating, he grew tired of the petty wars and imperfection of mortals. While his previous instinct would have been to destroy them, he instead headed off to some secret location in order to create his own utopia that would be perfect and balanced- an Eden.

Many artificers, sentient automatons, and warforged all look up to him as their patron god. Even some gnomes have started to worship him, alongside Eurion.

The Lunar Collective absolutely rejects the worship of Eurion and Ultros, and considers it an insult to humankind that even mortal-made technology must be linked to gods. They consider technology and steam power to be the basic human's invention, never to be attributed to either of the two false tech gods.

History

During the height of the The Great Aurian War in 3E220, the Elves of Aeteria started to create a new fighting force through magic and metal- the Warforged. Pontiffess Circyra II of the Imperium Aeternum sanctioned the creation of a holy army that could give aid to High King Callas and Emperor Sombra. However, Circyra II did not believe in golems or automatons that were unliving. She communed with the plane of Mechanus, and devised a plan to fill a divine hole in the fabric of the world.

The world is balanced through creation and destruction, but has been unbalanced for too long. In Jakunist traditions, there are four destroyer gods: Elder Dobuna, the Supreme Destroyer; Krros, the Orderly Destroyer; Magmus, the Balanced Destroyer; and Varkanus, the Chaotic Destroyer. Similarly, there were four creator gods: Elder Mekalus, the Supreme Creator; Vertum, the Orderly Creator; Omegus, the Balanced Creator; and Mutrev, the Chaotic Creator.

However, only Vertum ended up staying true to his purpose. Both Omegus and Mutrev strayed from their duties over time, tempted by greater powers than gods. Mutrev was the first to stray, as he abandoned chaos in favor of order. He left his position empty to take over the vacant position of Dimensus becoming the new god of the realms. His position was replaced by the new chaotic creator, Quanus. However, the greater betrayal was that of Omegus.

Omegus saw the futility of creation during the destruction of the cosmos at the end of the First Era. The Omniborn Crisis made him more a destroyer than a creator, as he lost sight of his purpose. However, that is the generally accepted view of his betrayal. In truth, he had sought higher power, as his ambition grew too unchecked. He wanted to break free from the limitations of balance, order, and chaos. He wanted to become an Elder God of Void, a position he assumed unfilled. At the beginning of the second era, he commited his great act of betrayal on the Day of Death, day of the Varkosi Arcanos of the 17th year: 18-12-2E017. Omegus created a portal to the negative energy plane in the city of Al-Fahim, killing all non-undead life in a split second and absorbing undeath. Jakuna sent the god-killer Krakus to hunt him down, but he was too late. Krakus struck Omegus down in the middle of his spell, destroying his divine form. However, Omegus rose anew as a voidal god of undeath, claiming dominion over the necromantic.

And for the next 826 years the position of balanced creator remained unfilled. There were candidates, of course, but none could handle the pressure of balance. In 3E220, Pontifess Circyra II took matters into her own hands. Through knowledge of supreme order borrowed from Mechanus, she summoned the help of the goddess of technology, Eurion, in addition to the great artificers of the land including Volnax Blackwood. She conspired not just to create an army of constructs, but for this army to be sentient and to be alive. Some of her bishops were apprehensive, believing that no mortals should be taking creation magic into their own hands in the form that Circyra was doing. She was criticized by many theologians for trying to become a creator god herself. In response, she claimed that through Eurion's blessing this new race of immortal beings would bring balance to the world and that she herself wanted to remain mortal.

Eurion was said to have been forged into existence by the god Rhos, and what she was helping Circyra do was much the same. Many Crimson historians would have people believe that the first warforged ascended to godhood, but in reality the plans were to construct a new god from the very beginning. In the depths of Alsorion, the artificers and clerics toiled for countless nights in their aim to build the schematics needed for this task. Even with the design for their physical bodies ready, the question of how to create new souls remained unanswered. Rumors say of the elves discovering an ancient power under the profane Scarlet Moorland, which was part of why they burnt it to the ground. The wildest rumors claim that Circyra found the rotting body of the goddess Etermu, who was once the goddess of mortalkind. If these are to be believed, Eurion and Circyra extracted the divinity from the corpse of the titaness and imbued it into the first Warforged, Ultros. Other stories claim that the elves ventured deep into an old Omniborn ruin, and discovered a mythical 'Zaaeakhas Crystal' of limitless power that the Omniborn once used in their own attempt of creating a construct-god. Whether Ultros' soul came from Etermu or a Zaaeakhas Crystal, his eyes lit up with life.

Initially, he was named Mith-El ("Mithril-Soul") but as his divine powers became apparent, he was named Ultros ("Beyond-God" or "Uncomparable-God") by Circyra. Thousands of more warforged followed in the coming years, some with brand new 'artificial' souls, others with the souls of elves and men put into new bodies. Cultists to this day claim that Circyra herself cheated death, and instead of ascending to the heavens like the other Pontiffs before her, became an immortal warforged. Others claim that her creation, Ultros, eventually destroyed her. While Ultros was an effective weapon of war before his ascension, he grew tired of the petty bloodshed which he was created for. After the warforged-assisted conquest of Vogh Vulfrhûn, war stories from the dwarves claim that they spotted Ultros standing alone in the deactivated Allforge pondering his role.

It is believed that Circyra II used her position as the messenger of Jakuna to commune with the goddess, pleading for Ultros' ascension as the new god of balanced creation. After an entire year of her staying in this meditative trance while the war raged on, Jakuna accepted her judgement. Ultros ascended to become the new Balanced Creator god, rejected instantly by much of the world. His first act as a creator god was to use his newfound powers to destroy his body and remake himself in his own image. His second act was to legitimize the artificial souls of all Warforged into true souls much like any other mortal. This was his first and only gift to his brethren, and why he is known as the patron-god of living constructs. Ultros rejected both the orderly systems of Mechanus and the chaotic war of Abmarah. Cold and calculating, he grew tired of the petty wars and imperfection of mortals. While his previous instinct would have been to destroy them, he simply grew apathetic. He refused to help further in the war, and destroyed the laboratory in which he was created. While he didn't become hostile to the elves who created him, he claimed that they had committed a sin as blasphemous as the sins they accuse the Omniborn of having committed. He chastised his creators for their arrogance in believing that they could create new gods, and threatened to destroy Alsorion if Circyra tried to ascend herself.

"Stick closer to your forests and trees, Alves of Alsorion. Leave the metalworking and technology to the Dwarves, who at least respect the forge and don't claim themselves masters of it."
- Ultros addressing the Council of the Imperium Aeternum.

After the end of the war, Ultros commanded the Imperium Aeternum to release the Warforged they still controlled from their programming, freeing his brethren from their warlike nature to be free to do as they please. Ultros then left Abmarah, and headed off to some secret location far away from the planet in order to create his own utopia that would be perfect and balanced- an Eden.
